Hi — I’m Eric, founder of Exhale.

For most of my career, I’ve worked in fast-paced leadership and operations roles where solving problems, improving systems, and supporting people under pressure were part of everyday life. I spent over 15 years working directly with customers, vendors, and teams across restaurant leadership, finance, and customer operations. Throughout that time, I developed a reputation for staying calm in stressful situations, communicating clearly, and finding practical solutions that produce real results.

I always understood that insurance systems were complex. My experience working in finance gave me a firsthand look at how processes that should move quickly often become delayed, confusing, and difficult to navigate. But I didn’t fully understand how deeply this impacted mental health providers until I saw it firsthand at home.

My wife is a private practice therapist. Like many clinicians, she was managing insurance billing, credentialing, and claim follow-up while also providing quality care to clients and working to grow her practice. Over time, months of delayed payments, denied claims, and incorrect payer information created a significant cash flow gap — at one point extending more than four months. I watched the pressure of trying to run a practice while chasing insurance companies begin to affect her health and create stress in our personal finances.

When I saw the toll this was taking, I stepped in to help.

As I began communicating with payers and learning the systems behind the scenes, I realized something important: therapists are highly skilled communicators and deeply committed to their clients, but the insurance system often requires a different kind of persistence, structure, and direct problem-solving approach. With organized tracking, consistent follow-up, and clear, professional communication focused on accountability, we were able to start relieving the backlog and getting claims processed.

That experience became the foundation for Exhale.

I started this business because I believe therapists deserve to focus on the life-changing work they are trained to do — not spend hours navigating confusing billing systems, chasing payments, or worrying about whether they will be paid fairly for their services. When insurance processes become overwhelming, it doesn’t just affect the therapist. It can limit access to care for clients who rely on insurance benefits to receive support.

My mission is to make insurance billing and credentialing less stressful and more manageable so therapists can serve people from all income levels while maintaining financially sustainable practices.

I bring a systems-oriented mindset to every engagement. My strength has always been identifying what isn’t working, creating structure around complex problems, and implementing processes that produce consistent results. I believe in proactive communication, setting clear expectations, and taking ownership of the work I’m trusted with. When I partner with a therapist, my goal is to make their role easier — not add more to their plate.

Although I once considered becoming a therapist myself, I’ve come to understand that my greatest impact happens behind the scenes. By simplifying workflows, resolving claim issues, and supporting the operational side of private practice, I can help create the stability that allows therapists to focus fully on their clients.

Based in the Kansas City area, I’m proud to support mental health professionals who are building sustainable practices and expanding access to quality care in their communities. Through Exhale, I aim to be more than a billing resource — I strive to be a reliable partner who helps therapists move forward with confidence.
